Robotics Engineer Vacancy

i-bodi Technology are looking for a recent graduate to join our small but innovative engineering team as a Robotics Engineer. The successful candidate will work on various Research and Design projects to create bespoke articulated anthropometrically accurate mannequins and head-forms for use as test platforms. As the team’s lead on robotics, you would be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining the control software and electronics aspects of each project.

i-bodi Technology is a subsidiary of Crawley Creatures Ltd. which specialises in animatronic and static models for museums, exhibits, films and TV. Our Animatronic mechanisms are created and controlled by robotic systems that are individually designed and constructed. The successful candidate would be required to work in both aspects of our companies. 

Requirements:

A Degree in, Computer Science, Engineering or similar field

Be able to demonstrate:

  • An ability and desire to learn new skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • Resourcefulness
  • An ability to work as part of a team 

Have a working knowledge of one or more of the following:

  • Linux, specifically Debian and its derivatives (including Raspbian)
  • C# + XAML for desktop applications
  • Javascript, HTML, and CSS
  • C++ – mostly for microcontrollers
  • Programming microcontrollers, including Raspberry Pi and the Arduino platform
  • Programming desktop applications

Preferable but not essential areas of expertise could include:

  • Dataflow programming (LabVIEW, Node-RED)
  • Parametric CAD such as Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of animatronics, and puppeteering control software
  • Operation of RC equipment, transceivers, servos, etc.
  • Electronics and PCB design
  • Soldering (through-hole components)
  • Assembly of soldered and crimped connectors (Molex, RJ45, etc.)
  • 3D scanning and printing
